How was School???

It has only been the 27th day of school and I have started to dislike some of the teachers. I got a scolding from a teacher when I did not do anything at all. That teacher is now on my "Hate this Teacher List". My class is super noisy and thankfully... I am not the shortest in my class! YAY!! On the 1st day of school, I did not expect to make so many friends! They even asked me if I wanted to join them for recess.

I wanted to be a class monitor, but I ended up being a science monitor.... :( But it's not the end of the world. I have to do a science experiment with Dannielle (another science monitor in my class) for the p1 to p6. It is quite exciting actually...

Finally, I am gonna go for my first field trip in 3 years WITH the school. I hope it will go very well. More to come soon.. :D

Skiing in Hokkaido

With our skis and boots, we climbed onto the bus to Sapporo Kokusai where we were going to ski! I was so excited, because this was the very first time I skied.

Our instructor taught us how to put on our skis; they were very hard to put on. I took about 10 minutes to put them on! The best part about skiing is skiing down the slope; it's so fun! The hardest part of skiing is climbing the hill; it was sooo tiring. But it was still super fun!

After a couple of hours, I felt tired. As we hopped onto the bus back to our hotel, I thought inside my head, "I can't wait to go skiing next time..."

Revenge Of The Mummy

"Wait for me!" I cried as I tried to catch up with my friends. We nervously hurried through the dark spooky maze to the "Revenge of the Mummy" ride at Universal Studios Sentosa. The lights dimmed further; I gripped on tightly to my sister's hand.

As I settled into the cart, I could feel my heart thumping madly in my chest. I shivered at the sight of the skeletons of hapless explorers and tomb raiders. The Mummy's creepy whispering filled my ears. The Mummy warned us, "You will never find the book of the living. Your souls will be mine for all eternity!" I screamed, " I don't know where the book is! Ahhhhh!!"

I shrieked in horror when four scary ghouls popped out and fire burst out above our heads. We were thrown into twists and turns; I could feel my butt floating off the seat.

Finally the cart came to a stop. I made it out alive! I survived the "Revenge of the Mummy"!

Melaka Competition

"Ah!!! I'm so scared!!" Sampea wailed. Sampea and I were taking part in the Melaka competition. And this was Sampea's very first competition. And you know how she's like when she gets nervous. My friend was also taking part in the competition.

Oh!!! When my mum, Sampea, my friend and I were on the bus.... we took our seats... and began THE 6 HOUR JOUNEY TO MELAKA!!! It was so long, I got so bored! And let me tell you... the toilets there are so gross!! I mean at the immigration. We were staying at Orkid hotel. It was so far away from the stadium, but it was near the high way.

It was the next day.... Time for the competition!!!! My heart was racing but I stayed calm and thought, "just do your best!!". The others did well but the people they fought were so TALL!! Unfair right! Guess What! I had to wait for 12 whole hours to fight!! I was so sleepy! But I did my best!

I won my first round... but lost in the 2nd round. I fought with a tall indian girl with an extra eyeball on her forehead!! Hahaha!! Just kidding. I was happy that I got to improve. Because I got trashed the last time I went to Malaysia. But I think I can do better next time..

Amsterdam

"I still want to live in Amsterdam!" Sampea cried. Ever since we watched 'Passport To Euroupe', we have been asking Mummy and Daddy if we can go to Amsterdam. There's a houseboat, a field full of tulips and a kind of common food you just have to try when you're there. It's a raw fish and you eat it like a penguin, holding the fish above your mouth and gulp it down. But it's raw and I so don't want to eat it!

If I live in Amsterdam.... I will walk in a glorious field of tulips and go cycling seeing the sights. My little sisters also want to live in a houseboat. The interesting things about Amsterdam is the houseboats and the food. My dreamland is Amsterdam!

My Injured Foot

"Ouch! You stepped on my poor foot Sam!" I have limping since Sunday afternoon. When I was in Taekwondo class a girl stepped on my foot and it was so very painful I could not walk properly. At first it was just a bruise, but as the days went by, it became swollen and my fourth toe was blue and purple.

Mummy and I went to the doctor to see if my foot was fractured. "I don't know if it is fractured, you need an x-ray to see," the doctor explained. "I will make an appointment tomorrow at East-shore hospital." The doctor bandaged my foot for protection until I got the x-ray results.

Yesterday, I went to the hospital for the x-ray. We had to wait for an hour to get the results. Luckily, my foot was not fractured. I was relieved! But I still cannot run, skip and go for Taekwondo until my foot is well.

Sense Poem about Norway

I would like to see the rock formations that look like trolls
I would like to hear the trees rustle
I would like to touch the little cottages
I would like to taste the yummy food
I would like to smell the mountain air
Norway is where I want to go!

Tkd Australia Trip

I had to win the gold. I promised my Kong Kong that I would win the gold for him. I was taking part in the Western Australia Open Championships held in Perth. This was my first time going to Australia by myself and I was so excited!

On the day of the competition I was extremely nervous because Australia people are tall and I am short. But I kept telling myself to be confident. If you were not confident, you would not be able to fight well. When it was my turn, I walked up to the court and saw my opponent. She was the same height as me so I thought to myself maybe I have a good chance of winning. Just before the fight, Mr Rivas told me what to do, how to win points and how to confuse the opponent. I won the first round. I told myself I could do it, I could win! During half-time, Mr Rivas told me I was doing well and told me to do double turning kicks to get more points. In the second round, I saw that my opponent kept looking at the score board so when I had the chance, I swung my leg and kicked her and scored many points. The score at the end was 7-2 and I was the champion!

I felt very happy with myself because this was my first overseas competition and I won! The lesson that I learnt is to be confident about yourself and don’t be nervous.

I kept my promise to my Kong Kong. This morning, I showed him my gold trophy through Skype. He was in a hospital in Thailand lying on a bed. He did not smile or say anything because he was in a semi-coma. But I know deep down in his heart he is very proud of me.

My Soft Toy

This is my soft toy "Taffi". I had her since I was 10.

Mummy bought it for me. She was my replacement for my welcome to the world toy called Toffi. I lost Toffi that is why I have a replacement. He was a bear and Taffi too. They are small, cute and cuddly.

I still have some baby clothes so I use them on Taffi. I treat Taffi like my baby. I even made a bag for her.I sleep with her every night. I make different types of clothes for her. She likes to wear her jumper because it is comfortable.

I make up her age and when her birthday is. She is 19 months old and her birthday is on 4th october 2008. She stills crawls like a baby. She likes to play computer games. She likes to sleep too. I love her super duper alot. And that is my soft toy.

Super Camp

Ready for some Camping?  Well follow me, I will show you how to camp.

Me, my sisters, cousin and Emy went camping.  We found a spot to set up the camp.  It was very hot so we brought some umbrellas.

The camp site

My friend collected some limes to use as juice, my sisters and cousin collected leaves, flowers and sticks for food in the camp.  I made the food, there were different kinds of food I made.  There was seaweed, roasted flowers, orange shish kebab. We used leaves as plates to hold the food.  I took a long time to make the food.

Preparing food

There was a bush that holds limes but all the leaves and lime were gone, so we called it the autumn tree, that's where we plucked the sticks. There was a stove we made out of stones and a bit of water used for cooking and roasting the food.  There was a table for us to eat at.  It was very windy too.

Then we wanted to go home. So we packed the things up and went home.  And that's how you do camping.

Rain is . . . . .

Rain is to make me miss tennis lessons.
Rain is to make people stay home and order pizza.
Rain is to make animals clean and fresh.
Rain makes me unhappy.

Under the Rug

"Under the Rug" illustration taken from
Mysteries of Harris Burdick by Chris Van Allsburg

Have you ever had a RAT in the house?  Well, Mr. and Mrs. Whitley always had some.  Everyday Mr. and Mrs Whitley searched for rats because there were always rats in the garden.  The rats would sneak into the house to keep warm when it was raining cats and dogs.  And Mr. and Mrs. Whitley were always prepared for the rats.  When it rained and they heard squeaking noises, they would grab the broom and look for them and when they found one, they would smack it to death.

There was a witch living next door called Witch Crackle.  She heard Mrs. Whitley's screams whenever there were rats in the house.  Witch Crackle got so fed up with Mrs. Whitley's screaming.  She tried many ways to avoid hearing her screams but nothing worked.

One rainy Sunday, Witch Crackle sat on her red comfy sofa and thought of a way to put an end to Mrs. Whitley's screams - she would turn Mrs. Whitley into a rat!  Witch Crackle dashed to the basement to grab her big giant cauldron and she remembered that she had rodent hair on the living room sofa so she grabbed some and threw them into the pot, added water, stirred them all together and soon she got the rat potion.

Witch Crackle called Mrs. Whitley on the phone and said to her, "Uuummm... Mrs. Whitley, would you come to my house for a cup of tea?"  Mrs. Whitley said, "OK, I'll be there in 10 minutes."  Witch Crackle laughed and laughed and laughed.

After 10 minutes, there was a knock on the door and it was Mrs. Whitley.  Witch Crackle welcomed her in.  She said to Mrs. Whitley, "I shall go get the cookies and tea you little dork... I mean little angel.. hehe.  You wait here."

Mrs. Whitley waited.  Finally Witch Crackle came back and poured out the tea and gave her the biscuits.  Witch Crackle said, "Drink this; it is very healthy."

Suddenly, there was a bang and a boom!  Witch Crackle peeped and saw that Mrs. Whitley was a rat and she laughed and laughed and laughed.  She went to the window of Mrs. Whitley's house and threw her in.

When Mr. Whitley saw the rat, he quickly snatched the broom and kept hitting Mrs. Whitley and hitting her.  Mrs. Whitley kept running and hiding.  Finally she hid under the rug.  Her heart was racing faster and faster.  Mr. Whitley saw a hump under the rug and knew that it was the rat.  He put down the broom, picked up a chair and whacked her with the chair.  Her heart stopped, her blood stopped flowing and that was the end of Mrs. Whitley and her screams.

Someday

Someday I shall have my own bedroom
With the moon outside my window
Someday I shall go on a Duck Tour
That goes on land and water

Someday I shall go diving in the ocean
To study the corals
Someday I shall be a famous ice skater
Twirling and dancing on the ice

Someday I shall be a famous fashion designer
Creating beautiful dresses
Someday I shall be a whiz at the computer
Like my mother

Someday.

Pulau Ubin Trip

"Look, a mermaid's fan!" Uncle Joe showed me the seaweed.  I touched it and it felt like jelly.  We were at Pulau Ubin with our friends Keith and Karl.  It was my first time there and I was so excited!
Mermaid's fan

We took a bumboat to get to Pulau Ubin.  The bumboat is a very special boat because it has tires at the front of the boat, the sides and at the back.  If the boat bumps into anything, it won't break because the tires are bouncy and it would just bounce off anything.

On the bumboat

When we got off the bumboat, Uncle Joe led us to some rock pools.  That's where we saw the mermaid's fan.  We spotted lots of fiddler crabs.  They have a big claw and a small claw.  The small claw is used to feed itself and the big claw is used for fighting.  There were also little tiny prawns in the rock pools.

After that, we went to a provision shop which sells almost everything.  There were drinks, durians and everything you find in a supermarket.  Uncle Joe bought a gassy apple drink and he asked, "Who wants to open the bottle with this bottle opener?"  I shouted, "Me!!!"  The first time I tried, I didn't manage to open it.  But the second time, I managed to get it opened.  Uncle Joe also let us try the gassy apple drink.  It was super gassy!

Later on, we took a taxi van.  It looked like our old school bus.  It didn't really look like a taxi.  We went to a quarry where we saw herons and egrets.  There were very few of them at first but after a few minutes, we saw a group of them flying together.  Then we got back into the taxi and drove through a forest.  Uncle Joe told us to look out for wild boars but unfortunately there were none.

Taxi van

After a while, we arrived at Chek Jawa.  Uncle Joe picked up some rubber tree seed husks and he said, "Hey, we can make a toy out of these."  He turned one half of the husk the opposite way and fastened them together.  Then Uncle Joe held the toy with two fingers, took a deep breath, blew the hollow side of the husk and it spun.

Blowing the spinning toy

Then we strolled on the boardwalk and looked out for mud lobsters, mudskippers and fiddler crabs.  I was tired but I still kept a close look out for the mudskippers because I like them.
After a long walk, Uncle Kenneth spotted a big mudskipper with tiny arms and it looked like a slug.  I only caught a glimpse of it because it scampered away.  I also spotted a few fiddler crabs fighting with each other and it looked like they only had a big claw and no body.

Then we saw some people with a lot of rubbish, tires, ropes, and  big oil drums.  They were clearing rubbish from the sea.  After some time, I spotted some mudskippers hopping here and there.  Suddenly, a man shouted to Uncle Joe that there was a mud lobster.  "Bring it to us!" Uncle Joe said.  It looked like a regular lobster to me.

When we got out of Chek Jawa, we went to a kampung house where we saw lots and lots of dogs and a parrot that could say "hello" and "goodbye".  I was a little bit scared of the dogs.  I thought the kampung house was a nice place to stay in.  It is interesting how they cook using firewood and that they use a ladder instead of stairs to get to the second floor.

Finally we went for lunch.  We ate at a seafood restaurant.  We had fish, mussels, sweet potato leaves, prawns, etc.  I thought the fish was tough.  We saw bags of water hanging down above the tables.  The water bags reflect light to scare away houseflies.
At the restaurant

After lunch, we took a bumboat back to Changi.  We said goodbye to our friends, Kong Kong and Uncle Joe.  And that was my trip to Pulau Ubin.
